What can prevent nesting?

27.08.2022

If a female turtle crawls onto the beach to lay her eggs and finds a seawall, rock revetment, beach turniture, or other obstacles in her way, she may return to the water without nesting.

This is called a "false crawl." Distractions such as flashlights, loud noises, or movement from people on the beach at night can also prevent her from nesting.
